Mexico WindPower 2013 is right around the corner!!

With 280 GW of installed capacity by the end of 2012, wind power is rapidly becoming one of the most interesting and competitive forms of alternative energy. According to a recent report published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), by 2016, global installed capacity of wind energy could reach 490 GW.

While we have been witnessing the growth of wind power in countries like Germany, Denmark, the United States, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy and even China and Brazil, for at least a decade, in the past couple of years, Latin American markets are the center of attraction, mainly due to overcapacity in already developed markets.

This is definitely the case for Mexico where the year 2012 was nothing less than ‘energetic’ for the national wind power sector. At present, Mexico has nearly 1380 MW of wind power capacity in operation, a figure that is expected to grow to at least 2 GW by the end of 2013 and according to Leopoldo Rodríguez Olivé, the President of AMDEE (the Mexican Wind Energy Association), there is the potential to develop 12 GW of installed capacity by 2020.

Of course, none of this would have been possible in the last years without the push towards renewable energy sources from the government, the private sector and associations as well as wind energy exhibitions and congresses that were organized in Mexico during the last year. Among these events is Mexico WindPower, the most important international event organized conjointly by AMDEE and GWEC, and it so happens that the third edition of this annual event is only 10 days away!

Mexico WindPower 2013 is “organized by the industry…for the industry”. Some of the topics that will be discussed at the congress are:

  • Market perspective: a vision of Mexico’s wind market from 2000 to 2030
  • Doing what is right: creating a political framework for sustainable growth
  • Opportunities and challenges with self-supply projects
  • Turbine manufacturers forum: technological development
  • Wind power and the environment
  • Construction of wind farms

With only 10 days left before the event, interested parties are still in time to register and attend! Do not miss this unique opportunity to learn about the wind industry’s latest developments and to take advantage of networking opportunities with industry specialties.

Mexico WindPower 2013 will be held at Centro Banamex in Mexico City on from January 30th to the 31st and for the first time will integrate a congress with a 5,000 m2 exhibition floor occupied by over 80 companies from all over the world.
